Description:

Session I. Wednesday 28 September
  • Adressed to scientists or students with biological background
  • Topics will cover basic DNA alignment algorithms, models of DNA evolution, and distance-based phylogenetic methods
  • Practical tasks will adress DNA alignments and UPGMA/NJ tree drawing
Session II. Wednesday 5 October
  • Adressed to scientists or students familiar with basic phylogenetic methods
  • Topics will cover criterion-based phylogenetic inference, maximum-likelihood, model selection, and bayesian methods
  • Practical tasks will adress bayesian inference with BEAST.
Session III. Wednesday 12 October
  • Adressed to scientists or students familiar with bayesian inference and phylogenetics with practical experience with BEAST
  • Topics will cover bayesian model selection, population history reconstruction, and examples from the literature
  • Practical tasks will adress a range of phylogenetic problems with BEAST. Attendees are welcome to work with their own datasets.
